It has been long time I didn’t write at all in this blog. Several days ago, I did an annual event, “mudik alias pulang kampung” to celebrate Eid Mubarok in my home town, Pati. I was so glad because I celebrated it together with my family in this year. FIY, I celebrate it in Tucson, Arizona last year. Did you know how’s the feeling of Eid Mubarok celberation without your lovely family? I did it last year.

I was one of IELSP grantees 2008. IELSP is a scholarhip given by US Department of States for Indonesian students to study English for 8 weeks in several university in US. I went to Arizona to study English at Central for English as a Second Language (CESL), University of Arizona, Tucson. I began my journey to US from Soekarno-Hatta Internastional Airport on August 16, 2008. Then, I transitted to Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Narita International Airport. I was so glad that I’ve visited Thailand and Japan, even only at one of their airports. I arrived at US, exactly in Los Angeles International Airport on August 17, 2009. What a long journey to get in US. I calculated that the long journey from Jakarta to Bangkok is almost 3 hours, Bangkok-Japan 5/6 hours, Japan-Los Angeles is 11 hours. I traveled by Garuda Indonesia Airways from Jkt to Bangkok. Then, I changed it into United Airways.

Going to US is my first trip to go abroad. I wish I could go there again…Hohohoho

I spent all of Ramadhan in Tucson. I went to Islamic Center of Tuscon to get breakfasting together with other Muslims. I could feel “ukhuwah islamiyah”, showing that we are brothers and sisters. In ICT, I could taste MEditeranian food that provided by some donaturs. Hmm..I miss those food so much…

When the Eid Mubarok came, I celebrated it together with my Indonesian friends who got the same scholarship. We prayed in Reid Park which is located in the middle of town. One of my classmates offered us to go with his family by riding car. At that time, there were about hundreds of Muslims from various contries. I met Muslims from Malaysia, Singapore, Egypt, Libya and etc.

The night before it, I didn’ t hear any “kalimah takbir”. We missed “takbiran” so much, but We could watch it from youtube. No party at all, we just share our stories about Eid Mubarok.

In this year, I celebrated it happly with my  family. We made opor ayam, lontong and lepet. We did prayer at the mosque and then visited our neighbours to give Eid Mubarok regard. DSC03805-edit
